Okay, I have to tell you about something I've been working on that I'm genuinely excited to share with you: I have a solo exhibition, it just went online, and I want you to see it!
This exhibition brings together paintings created during a series of intentional resets—deliberate pauses where I stopped to ask myself: what reveals itself when you stop reaching for the familiar? Here's the thing: color is my comfort zone. So stripping it back is the point. A limited palette changes the emotional and visual register immediately. Without the seduction and comfort of color, line and shape step forward. Small changes in tone carry more impact, both in boldness and in nuance. A limited palette can read as restraint. But it can also feel wildly free, depending on how you move through it. Each reset, each painting, kept circling the same question: what reveals itself when you stop reaching for the familiar? Most of these abstract landscapes are acrylic on canvas, ranging in size from 16×20 to 79×79 inches, with a few works on paper. Those came about on a whim—born from homemade ink and a handful of perfect charcoal sticks I discovered in the fireplace. Their simple beauty caught me off guard and so, voila—here they are. What I'm politely asking of you is to engage without the comfort or drama of color. To let your eye travel differently. Each piece was shaped by the particular kind of attention I was immersed in at that moment. Presence as a way of responding, not retreating. I'd love for you to experience that too!
