Creativity is a superpower for problem-solving and turning everyday moments into adventures. Whether contemplating the next masterpiece or just doodling on a napkin, creativity adds that extra zing to the day.
So many people say to me, “But I'm just not creative.” I call b.s. Being creative is all about opening your life to the zing. That's it. Everyone has the capacity to be creative in their own way. It's more about finding time, setting priorities, and letting go of ego.
We're all constantly walking on the edge in a world on the move, so finding time to nurture our creativity is a real struggle. But it's essential for our well-being and personal growth. Cultivating creativity is not just about finding time; it's about prioritizing your own growth and well-being by adding beauty, depth, and a sense of wonder to your days.

Here are five simple tips to help you make room for creativity in your busy life.
  1. Eliminate Distractions: Set up a creativity area where you can minimize distractions, whether it's turning off notifications or just finding a quiet spot. Creativity can take place anywhere, you don't need a studio. Setting up a small space on the dining table with meaningful objects like photos or special stones can signal your mind it’s time to open up and let the creative juices flow.
  2. Start Small: Don't feel pressured. Begin with short, regular sessions, even if it's just 15 minutes every other day. Build a creative habit. Habit is the key word here.
  3. Not Every work is a Masterpiece: In fact, masterpieces are pretty hard to come by. They take sustained practice and a smidge of luck. Get used to making a lot of crappy stuff and just letting it go. It's okay! Don't be precious.
  4. Combine Activities, Change it Up, and Relax into a Creative Mindset: Start integrating creativity into your daily routines: from upending your usual routine with a random change, sketching during breaks, brainstorming big ideas while commuting, singing silly songs while you cook dinner, to dancing while walking the dog. I like to walk backwards when possible, or brush my teeth with my non-dominant hand. I find it shifts my thought process toward more creativity.
  5. Stop worrying about what others might think. I know, easier said than done! Your unique impulses and expressions are the essence of who you are; cherish and nurture them. When it comes to creativity, the most profound and original works often emerge when you unapologetically and fearlessly follow your creative instincts.
